Hockey, English immersion, and the Canadian experience.
For the 5th year in a row, a group of 70 young hockey players are coming to Cochrane as part of a hockey exchange "Spring Training" program. Players are between the ages of 11 and 17.
These young athletes train with P3 Sports and OverSeas Stars trainers and coaches during each weekday.
Hockey training, English immersion, and the Canadian experience are what they come for. On top of this, what they leave with are lifelong relationships and new extended families.
Billet Family
Responsibilities
Arranging Transport
Get your billet athlete to and from the rink, training sessions, and team activities. Carpooling support is available if your schedule doesn't allow daily drop-offs.
Feeding & Housing
Provide three meals a day plus snacks (these are growing athletes), and a safe, comfortable place to sleep. A shared bedroom with a billet sibling is common and welcomed.
Including Them in Your Family
Treat your billet player as one of your own — family dinners, weekend outings, movie nights, and everyday Canadian life. Cultural immersion is half the experience.
Supporting Them as Needed
Be a steady, supportive presence away from home — guidance, encouragement, and a friendly check-in. OverSeas staff are on the ground to back you up at any time.

What families ask most.
How much are we compensated?+
$225 per week / player.
Can we take them with us camping or on short holidays where they miss a training day or two?+
Absolutely.
What if I can't get them to the rink every day?+
We help arrange carpooling, even pick up and drop off if necessary!
Do they need their own room(s)?+
No. Often times billet players end up in the room of their billet brother.
Can my son or daughter skate with them?+
Yes — we do our best to accommodate opportunities like this.
What other support do you provide billet families?+
Billet family packages include coupons, discounts for groceries, restaurants, and hockey equipment.
What if they are injured or require additional care?+
OverSeas comes with a staff member you'll be able to connect with to take care of that.
